At the March 14, 2025 School Board Meeting, the CCUSD Board of Education unanimously approved District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)’s English Learner Master Plan, presented by Educational Services. The plan has been updated to reflect the California Department of Education’s new reclassification requirements for English Learners (EL).
The following items were included in the most recently revised English Learner (EL) Master Plan:
Parent/guardian English Learner classes at the Culver City Adult School
Seminars and programs on the EL program and how parents can advocate for their children
Site specific groups and programs geared toward EL families
Detail reports on progress for parents/families to support their children at home.
Access to Resources: More explicit mention of available resources, such as sample tests
ELAC and DELAC By-Laws will be revisited with special attention paid to Zoom meetings, enhanced access to resources, and clarification of voting procedures.
DELAC stands for District English Learner Advisory Committee, removing references to Council.
Remove transfer of ELAC Functions to SSC.
Training for ELAC and DELAC timeline.
Inclusion of the Pathways to Biliteracy Program.
Updating and streamlining will benefit students directly. The board will be looking to data to see how these measure work for students and what fine-tuning needs to happen in the future.
