On February 7, 2025 Culver City High School student Lillian “Lily” Sturges earned first place in the Instrumentalist Category in this year’s SoCal Beat Battle.
The Beat Battle is an incredible opportunity for students to showcase their musical skills, receive professional feedback, and win great prizes from leading industry brands.
This annual competition run by Spotify, Soundtrap, and Young Producers Group is highly competitive and has significant ties to the music industry at large.
Of the more than 700 students who submitted their own music for this competition, Lily was one of nine selected finalists across three categories. She was one of three finalists in her category, as well as an announced runner-up in a separate category. After placing first in the Instrumentalist category, Lily was awarded thousands of dollars worth of industry-standard software and hardware, including a new Fender electric guitar and MacBook Air.
