CCUSD Wins Grant – Behavioral Health Initiative Will Expand Mental Health Support – Culver City Crossroads

The Culver City Unified School District has been awarded up to $575,000 in grant dollars to plan for and prepare to participate in the State’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative. The Children and Youth Behavioral Initiative is a five-year, $4 billion+ initiative that is transforming the way California supports children, youth and families.

The initiative’s goal is to enable California kids to find support for their mental health and substance use needs where, when and in the way they need it most.

What this means for CCUSD is that they can expand the mental health services our students receive at their school sites or local partnerships, at no cost to them or the district. CCUSD will get reimbursed for wellness and mental health services we provide to students, from both commercial insurers and Medi-Cal. Services may include Wellness Coaches, Behavioral Health consults, parent support videos, crisis & wrap-around services, and educator training opportunities.

The grant money allows the district to plan for and identify infrastructure, systems, and programmatic needs of the program. CCUSD’s Department of School and Family Services deserves the lion’s share of the credit for securing this critical and impactful grant.
