At the CCUSD School Board meeting on Sept. 24, 2o024, the board unanimously approved the hiring of Melissa J. Gooden, Ed.D., as the new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Dr. Gooden will be coming to CCUSD from the El Segundo School District, where she currently holds the same position. She previously served as principal at El Segundo High School and at El Segundo Middle School before that.
A seasoned educator, Dr. Gooden began her career as a special education high school teacher on the east coast before moving to the west coast and teaching in several Southern California districts including Glendale and LAUSD. In between teaching and serving as a principal, she was a district administrator in special education as well as an assistant principal.
