BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On April 29, 2024, City Council heard a presentation by Public Works Environmental Programs and Operations Division (EPO) staff regarding proposals to ban single-use plastic beverage bottles, balloons, smoking, and plastic bags (coined “4Bs’). Council directed staff to research and refine the bans with the Sustainability Committee and provide public outreach. Council also added Astro-Turf to the list of proposed bans.

At this meeting, staff will provide an update regarding the residential and commercial outreach plan progress for the proposed bans for feedback and comment.

Committee may discuss and provide staff direction.
