Planetary Parade – Astronomical Viewing Event @ WLAC – Culver City Crossroads

West Los Angeles College, supported by the Aerospace Employee Association (AEA) Astronomy Club, is hosting a “Planetary Parade” viewing the evening of Friday, February 28. From the College’s large outdoor library deck, guests can see from Playa del Rey to Century City and have excellent views of the night sky. Participants will have access to high-powered telescopes and information on this unusual astronomical event.

This rare configuration of seven planets (Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars) aligning will not occur again until 2040.

The viewing is open to the public but an RSVP for the limited spaces is required. All ages welcome. Parking is free. Information and the RSVP link are at WLAC.edu/Events

“Planet Parade” is not a technical term. Instead, it is a colloquial term used to describe when multiple planets appear close together in the night sky. Typically, the phenomenon can be seen even without telescopes.
