Rain or shine, almost 3,000 Screenland 5K walkers and runners will stream past movie studios and relive the iconic history of local movie-making on Oscar Sunday, 9:00 a.m., in the Heart of Screenland. The race begins and finishes at Ivy Station, Culver City.
“The drizzle will add a cinematic sheen to this grand event,” said Creative Director Lori Escalera, who is outfitting four clusters of vintage vehicles, movie star standees, and props, entertainment, and banners celebrating the past century of Glitz, Glamour, Glory, and Gold in Culver City.
Culver City Mayor Dan O’Brien is Grand Marshal but may not be able to defend his 2024 age division crown in the race because of a recent running strain.
“I’ll be there to cheer everybody on and be back next year to retake the title,” O’Brien said with a smile.
Among some 25 valued sponsors, the leading Screenland 5K partners include the Culver City Rotary Foundation, the City of Culver City, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and the Culver City Arts Foundation.
