RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) receive updates from its Standing Subcommittee and Ad Hoc Subcommittees.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Staff has prepared this report so that Commissioners have an opportunity to hear updates from their colleagues and from staff.  This includes information about Subcommittee meetings and tasks that are not yet prepared to be full Commission action items.

CAC can also make the following changes through a motion and vote:

1.                     dissolve any Ad Hoc Subcommittee that has completed its purpose; or

2.                     create a new Standing Subcommittee for an ongoing purpose; or

3.                     create a new Ad Hoc Subcommittee for a limited or single purpose; or

4.                     appoint members to Subcommittees as needed.

Cultural Affairs Ad Hoc Subcommittees

An “ad hoc” subcommittee serves only a limited or single purpose.  It is not perpetual, and it is dissolved when its specific task is completed. Once an Ad Hoc Subcommittee has been created, updates are typically given by Members. By consensus of the Commission, a separate Agenda Item is sometimes prepared and presented on a specific Ad Hoc Subcommittee’s topic or event.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact associated with this discussion.
