How legislation works — full guideThis page lists every record the Council publishes — ordinances and resolutions (the city's laws and formal decisions) as well as minute orders, minutes, presentations and other agenda items. Use the Type filter to narrow it down, or see the Meetings pages for each meeting as a whole.
- Ordinance
- A city law — e.g. zoning or parking rules. Requires two readings and usually takes effect 30 days after adoption.
- Resolution
- An official decision — e.g. approving funding, setting a policy, or authorizing a project.
- Minute Order
- An action recorded in the meeting minutes rather than as a separate resolution — e.g. approving a contract or receiving a report.
- Status
- Where the item stands — Agenda Ready means scheduled, not approved; Adopted means approved; Failed means not enough votes.
- CC, PFA, HA, SA, PA
- Which governing body is deciding. The same five Council members also serve as the Public Finance Authority, Housing Authority, Successor Agency and Parking Authority — a title like CC:PFA means they're acting as more than one at once.
Why it matters — a Consent Agenda item isn't necessarily minor. Many items can be approved together in one vote, without individual discussion — even when they involve millions of dollars.
